Shift Key Tips

You can keep the correct aspect ratio of your image when you scale within transform (Ctrl-T) by holding down the shift key and dragging one of the corners.

Make that perfect square or circle with the marquee tool by holding down the shift key and dragging your mouse.

Make straight horizontal or vertical lines with brushes by holding down the shift key. Line up the brush to where you want to start and move the brush up and down, or left and right. This works with all tools that use brushes (healing, paint, clone, history, eraser, sharpen, blur, smudge, dodge, burn and sponge tools).

Also Handy to know:

When you have reshaped an object for example a circle into an opal shape or something else you can also resize this with CTRL + T and then holding the SHIFT key without losing the shape you just made.
