| I watched this film for the 1st time yesterday and was blown away. I know i'm a little late in seeing it but if there is anybody out there as slow as me i'd highly recommend it. If anybody knows if Tony Jaa is in anything else please let me know. This is a film with very little special effects and loads of martial arts. In the words of Ebert & Roeper "Two Big Thumbs Up" |

He is in something else, but I cant remember what, he is a good martial artits, he did his own fighting and stunts in Ong-Bak, here is a link

Ong Bak incorporates a LOT of Muay Tai fighting (think kickboxing, but also using knees and elbows). It's a dangerous art because of the strength of these strikes. Muay Tai champions fight hard. One in particular has a knee strike (to the chest) which is the equivalent of being hit by a 35mph vehicle. Ouch! So when you're watching this stuff in the movie, them flying back 10ft is no exaggeration for a properly landed blow.
This show also has a bit of humor (at least from a non-eastern-culture point of view). My favorite part was the taxi chase.
If you're interested in martial arts, this is a movie definately worth watching.
