Alright I don't know if this has been done or not but here goes.

I want to know what everyones favorite 5 war movies are. I could probably pick 10 myself but thought 5 would be good enough. I am sure to miss a few since there are some good ones out there.

Saints and Soldiers
When Trumpets Fade
Saving Private Ryan
Full Metal Jacket
The Dirty Dozen

anyone else?

1. Full Metal Jacket
2. Platoon
3. Apocolypse Now
4. Hamburger Hill
5. We Were Soldiers

All Viet Nam era movies. If you ever wondered what the "old Corps" was like, Full Metal Jacket was it. R. Lee's role as the drill instructor should have gotten him an oscar. Ahh, the memories.

In no particular order, also a few of these might not be considered your typical WAR movies

We Were Soldiers
The Patriot(Mel Gibson)
Black Hawk Down
Braveheart
King Arthur

Some others that I really enjoyed
Shaka Zulu(TV mini-series)
Kingdom of Heaven
Glory
Pearl Harbor
Saving Private Ryan
Hotel Rwanda
The Tuskegee Airmen
Band of Brothers(not a movie but to good to leave out)

Now some fictional WAR stuff
Lord of the Rings
Narnia
Star Wars
Battlestar Galactica(again not a movie but to good to leave out)

**Sorry if I went a lil crazy with my choices
Very Happy

I know I'm coming into this topic a bit late, but here goes on my favorites since I've a few that didn't make any lists so far...

1. Grave of the Fireflies
(this one affected me longer and deeper than most others -- I'd say it's the antithesis of Saving Private Ryan, of which I'm going to be the outsider and not put SPR on my favorite's list)
2. Heaven and Earth
3. Empire of the Sun
4. Full Metal Jacket
5. Lawrence of Arabia

Also must mention some that have faded into memory a bit...

Great Escape
Tora Tora Tora
English Patient
I Will Fight No More Forever
Killing Fields
Life Is Beautiful
Casualties of War
