Two of these Jewel Cases are the same thickness as one CD Jewel Case.

I only use the regular DVD cases. Of course I only have about 350 movies so not a real issue yet.Maybe if I ever get close to Anna then I'll switch _________________ For every person with a spark of genius, there are a hundred with ignition trouble. |

I do admit I do have several of these that I store my backup's in.
I am guessing over a 1000 dvd's
I have a 5 drawer lateral filing cabinet, one drawer has regular cases in it, another has binders and another has envelopes and these slim cases.
Not to mention I have a couple of boxes of dvd's that I don't even know whats on them, have had no time to sort through
Once I get my office done and some shelving put up I will be getting organized. _________________

I used to use them but I have since switched to using 320 discs KSW-320 CD Wallet CD/DVD cases
and they take up a lot less space than 320 of the slim cases do. _________________ Site Moderator

I used to use the 320 cd wallets. I am now converting my collection of about 2000 or so into 7mm slim. I want to show them off since space is not too much of an issue. _________________ GO SEAHAWKS! |

Ditto.
PS. The question's not a Yes or No question, but the options are only Yes or No. |

I don't use cases at all anymore. I use the big wallets, which is an enormous space saver, makes the collection portable and is much less resource intensive. I have a simple filing system which makes finding them a snap, and I'm very happy with it the way that it is.
Of course, I only use the actual CD label. For those who insist on full covers then I think you either have to resort to slim cases or resign yourself to the loss of space(or larger loss of space, as it were) |

Anything with cover art goes in a slim DVD 2x/regular DVD/2x/4x/8x DVD case, depending on need based on the coverart, all the rest go in the slimline case.
BTW - Sam's club is a great source for the slimlines, about 13 bucks for 100. |

I use this type of Storage Box to keep all my DVD Films in. They are stackable and each box holds 120 DVD's (60 sleeves in each compartment) and each sleve is numbered. You simply just push the front of the compartment and it opens. At the moment I have 20 of these boxes. You wouldn't believe the space it saves.

I like to see the titles too - so full size for me every time - does take up a bit of space though! |

I have converted a large number of my covers over to thinkpak (7mm) size to save space. I have a bunch of the slim CD size you show, but haven't used them for any of my movies. One of the cautions I mention about keeping all your DVD's in a case is that while it saves space, it's also easy to walk away with. I had the unlucky experience about 10 years ago to have about 50 CD's in one of those CD "books" -- and my car was broken into and they were all stolen. Homeowner's insurance deductible was $500 and many of the CDs were out of circulation. One of my co-workers had her house broken into by teenagers who were aquaintances of her son and knew about the layout of her house. They went after a laptop computer, but you get the point. If all the DVD's are in a big DVD shelf, they might get some, but they'd have to get boxes and take much more time to fill them up not just carry away a briefcase and decide later what they wanted to keep or pawn. |
