I felt that this movie was having an identity crisis. It was trying to be a comedy, but it wasn't funny, and it was trying to be a drama, but it didn't have enough depth. It was kind of an all over the place movie, but despite that it did have some charm to it. At least if you put the almost always annoying Jack Black to the side.

It had some moments that would have been genuinely touching had they been fleshed out a bit, but it was never in danger of becoming a real comedy, and because it tried it detracted a bit from the rest of it. The ending seemed abrupt as well, given the rest of the movie. It seemd as if everyone was a bit confused as to what kind of movie they were shooting.

Not a bad watch, but not great either.
