The best i have come up with for scanning reflective disks is to scan it through a plastic A4 ring binder pocket . Sounds wierd i know but it sort of works to produce a stippled grey look insted of a rainbow.

Buy A4 pocket i mean the ones you put paper in in ring binders but not the ones that are like glass . The ones that have small bumps on the surface. You could also try the high quality tracing paper that draughsmen use if you can find any.

Hope this helps and dosent confuse you to much.

Thanks for the tip. I'll try that. (This was my post before my account was deleted for inactivity whilst on vacation.)
