I have a penguins logo that is 99% black on the outside outline. but i want to paste onto a black background. therefore i want to outline the logo with white. not much, just enough to separate the blacks.

i tried to follow your steps for text, but it didn't really work for me. the background ended up the same size as the logo so therefore i couldn't see the white. i probably did something wrong.

thanks.

my suggestion is that you use a 1-2 pixels frame. if thats what you mean, you can access it by double-clicking on the layer in the layer bar (F7)

Stroke it. Hold down the Ctrl-key and click on the layer thumbnail of your penguin. This will create a selection around your penguin layer. Now move your mouse to Edit - Stroke. I'm using CS2. A shortcut to get to the Stroke function is F10. There you can select the width, color and location of the stroke. Stroke makes a solid line of your "marching ants". Aqeritas tip about double clicking the layer to make a selection will work on earlier versions of Photoshop. They changed it to the method I mentioned above. Either way, depending on what version you have, make a selection and stroke it.

After sending by PM to you, flyers m8, I wondered why I didn't post it here for all to see. Confused So here it is. Very Happy

This should do what you want no matter which version of PSP you have. Good luck.

1 In PSP, open background picture; I've used a simple black rectangle for this demo.

2 Open logo; example here is "Constantin Film"

3 Selections, Select All

4 Edit, Copy
5 Highlight background picture

6 Edit, Paste, Paste As A New Selection
7 Position where required, left click to drop

8 Selections, Modify, Expand, 3 pixels(say), OK
9 Flood Fill selection with desired outline colour

10 Edit, Paste, Paste As A New Selection
11 Position over outline colour patch
12 Selections, Select None

Hope this works for anybody interested.
