Just discovered the fan on my Radeon 9800 graphics card is fubar'd.Took it outta my system, and saw a small wire had come away from the fan,so my mrs. soldered it back in place, but it still doesn't work.Have had to put an old 16 meg graphics card in for now(hmm...doesn't it make my graphics look pretty!!).
What i'm annoyed with is i paid £125 for it just over a year ago,and now, just as the warranty has expired,i have to buy a new fan for it,and if that doesn't work,a whole new card!

Yeah, for some reason all my electronics seemed to have gone on strike. My JVC DVD recorder (DVD/VCR), which I bought from a friend for $150 just went out on me. I thought I got a pretty good deal since they're going for $300 still. I might have to pay for shipping, the cost of it getting fixed ... blah blah blah. Such a pain.
I guess i'm just ranting, because electronics do break down, but they also seem to do so when I really need them the most.
You gotta love the tech, though! _________________ http://www.myspace.com/animationjesus |

It's only a small cooler on the original card, and tbh my cpu cooler sounds like a turbine,so i never really noticed the other one!
I've now bought a lil cheapo cooler for it,and if it works ok,i'll upgrade it to a better one.If not, then i guess it's a new gfx card for me. _________________ Reduce your carbon footprint...wear smaller shoes!!

Life expectancy (spellcheck) on all electronics is about 1 month after warranty period. I have had all sorts of problems with printers and dvd burners. In my opinion you should buy replacement warranty and break before end of period. That way you can get at least a two for one deal and extend the one year to two. |

i'll second that - my PC used to over heat and power down, now it has no less than 7 fans inside _________________ A day without wine is like a day without sunshine -hic! |

Yeah that the way it goes seems like it's always right after the warranty ends
by a day or two that things quit working. I almost believe they put little time
bombs in the electronics set to go off after a year and a couple of days or how
ever long the warranty is plus a day or two before exploding _________________ Site Moderator

I agree with you bob. I'm building a new PC now (3.0 dual core) Will have about 7 fans and cooler installed. going with the new Antec case that has the separate compartment for the power supply. Nice and supposed to be virtually silent _________________ For every person with a spark of genius, there are a hundred with ignition trouble. |

Whew!!!! back finally. Teach me to talk about a new computer. Not long after my post in here, my old computer went POOF! SO I finally got my new one up and running.
This one I bought assembled (first time in years) as it comes with a 4 year power train warranty. I asked them what that covers and it was virtualy everything that you need to make the thing go:)
Got to admit .. I love the dual core proccessors!!! _________________ For every person with a spark of genius, there are a hundred with ignition trouble. |

Maybe the stars will align for me later this year then, my current desktop will die, I will have some money to replace it, quad-core and Vista will have arrived. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. _________________ No matter how many times you try...you can't clone the dirt off your screen. |
