|
|
Hey guys and gals, I know that Iam new here to the group but here's some info that may help eliminate the NUDGE prob yur getting.
E-mail Epson: Web_Support@ea.epson.com and let them know that you have a tray that worked good but now the clear plastic is tearing and you now have to manually push the tray to print yur disc. They will reply wanting info such as yur serial and when and where you bought but will mail out the newer tray without the clear plastic and no more "nudging" it's a voluntary recall on the trays as Epson is very aware of teh problems they are having.
Myself and 3 guys from work all have R300 and have all had new trays mailed to use by Epson Free. Cheers. |

I received a response from them today and the only way they will send you a new tray
is if your printer is still within the 1 year warranty which mine isn't Here is what they
wrote back to me:
Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.
If you are receiving an error pertaining to the CD TRAY NOT BEING INSERTED
CORRECTLY, please do the following:
Recommendations:
-Make sure you hold the CD/DVD tray level, as you load it into the tray
guide, without tilting it up or down.
-Don't push in the tray too far, but line it up with the arrows
-Please ensure there is at least 3 inches of space behind the printer, or
the CD tray may eject.
Included, are the correct CD/DVD loading instructions. Please follow the
instructions below:
CD/DVD LOADING
1. Ensure the printer is powered on. Push in the output tray extension,
leaving the tray open.
2. Open the printer cover and pull down the CD/DVD tray guide.
3. Place a CD or DVD on the CD/DVD tray with the printable side up. Make
sure the disk lays flat in the tray. To print onto a small CD (8CM CD),
place the small CD RING onto the tray first, then place the CD inside the
ring.
4. Insert the tray CAREFULLY, making sure it's level, and not tilted up or
down.
5. Push the tray under the tab and the two rollers. Don't push the tray
too far. Make sure the arrows line up exactly.
General tips for CD and DVD printing:
-Ensure there is 3-5 inches of space behind the printer.
-Burn data/video/images onto CDs or DVDs before attempting to print on
them.
-Do not use thermal-printable or regular CDs or DVDs in the printer.
-Moisture or fingerprints on the printable surface of the CD may cause
marks or smearing to appear after printing.
-All printable inkjet media is different. Some surfaces will absorb ink
better than others. If output appears banded, faded, or streaky, print a
Nozzle Check pattern to confirm that all colors of ink are printing
completely. If the ink does not completely dry or smears after 24 hours
curing time, you may need to use the Epson Print CD tools to adjust (lower)
the print density.
- You can set the print quality from text to photo. Printing above photo
quality may result in oversaturation.
-Borderless printing and printing on the "inner circle" (plastic around
central hole) of CDs is not supported.
-Do not use the "print preview" feature provided by the Epson printer
driver as it will only show the image on a blank field and does not offer a
clear indicator of where the image will print.
-The Epson Print CD software works best with JPG images and may not import
some TIFF images.
-The inner/outer diameter of the CD print can be changed by selecting FILE
then INNER/OUTER Diameter Settings.
The Mylar strip on the front of the CD tray could be worn down and as a
result of this, the tray will not feed properly. If your printer is still
under the one year warranty, we will be happy to replace the tray for you.
Please provide us with the following information and we will have another
CD tray sent to you.

I'm glad i'm not the olny one that got fobbed of then. What they said to me was when your inks run out you buy new ones and dont ring up for replacements so i'd have to buy new trays 2 for £10. |

I went ahead and bought myself a replacement tray from the guy on ebay
for $13.00 all together with shipping and ins. it was $16.60 so I guess it
isn't all that bad but it would have been nice if Epson would have went
ahead and replaced it for me even though it was past the 1 year warranty
because they knew the trays were no good in the first place.
can anyone else see another class action lawsuit against Epson in the making _________________ Site Moderator

My printer is over a year old and I had the nudge problem early on.
The new trays were not available and they said the trays were consumables and I had to pay. The guy on the phone said the trays were only £2.50 each, but epson's policy was £10 minimun order charge. So they sent me 4 of the old trays. It may still be the case, so if you have to pay, make sure you ask the actual cost of the item. You may be paying over the top |

that's great news, and thanks for the info. I have to nudge mine in and give it a tug out when it's finishing up, so I'll be sending in my letter right away, especially since I'm within a year of my purchase. Thanks again! |

well it seems that Epson knows what's going on and they are definetely been more dificult to deal with. They seem to let you know that the printer is now outside of warranty parameters and they give you a site to buy the new one for a minimal cost. if any one is still getting the freebie from epson please post . |

Mine has a different problem...it draws the tray in too far and it snaps past the black tabs and won't come back out! If I set the tray a little over an inch too far out, all works well. It's an Epson R310. Anyone else seen this happen? |

Have had that happen on occasion, but not regularly, and have never had to set the tray that far off the lines. R300 for me, but that sounds like more than the usual equipment glitch. That sounds like a real problem with the printer. |

$@%#^@!%!&@
After a few uses the tray still pulls in fine, but requires a slight nudge coming out. The new tray seems a bit more flexible and the weight of the end of the tray seems to bind a bit at the end. Still better than the old style though. |
