Hey guys!

I have a small problem, I just tried to update IE for my work at home job. I need to up-date, plus I wanna use the new tab feature. When I install it, it doesn't take and I still have the old version. Hrmmm Crying or Very sad maybe i'm not downloading the right thing!?

Any help would be nice!

THX!!

I had the same problem with it and I found out I had a program running that was preventing it from making the necessary changes it needs to make to the regiestry, after I removed that program it downloaded and instaled just fine

Yes, that's what I use for the most part, Firefox. It's quick, simple to install, and seems to handle things a little smoother than IE.

I needed it for work. It won't let me install it, and then takes me to a troubleshooting page where I have to edit my registry! Come on, just let me install the darn thing! Crying or Very sad Very Happy

I tried turning off my anti-virus, firewall, spyware programs ... grr. Can I install it in safe mode?? lol

I don't get why it's this much trouble...

Well, I just got it to install in safe mode...odd.

Okay, I've been using Firefox for about 2 years, now. I noticed that my myspace page was pretty sllllow using IE 7.2 beta, and using about 70% of my CPU! Firefox ran it much smoother at only 10% CPU. I know some like IE, fine ... I'm just telling you my experience. It doesn't hurt to have a second browser, especially if you're just an average web surfer.

Microsoft lost a recent court case involving the ActiveX technology, which is used by a lot of web sites. They were ordered to stop using it.

Microsoft has been preparing for this change for the past several months through their updates of IE that are downloaded through Windows Updates. Their most recent update disabled ActiveX in IE. This will cause incompatibility with a lot of sites until these sites add Microsoft's latest technology into their Web sites. I don't remember what it is called, but it is designed to compete with ActiveX.

I did not install the latest IE update because I wanted to preserve the ActiveX compatibility.

I actually ended up uninstalling it. Laughing It was way too slow and giving me problems. Went back to IE6.

Thanks for the info, DVDCoverArt.
