Now this is interesting:

These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon .

The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.

This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:

a... no more air valves
a... no more air compressors at gas stations
a... no more repair kits

SCAN DOWN & SEE.

These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin

(they prevented the photos, link below)

hmmm..... no more flat tires either but......... I just don't know if I'd be willing to
trust those spokes at higher highway speeds or not. Looks like they might just flex
a little too much on the curves or make for a ruff riding car. Shocked

Yeah, I'm not sure when they exspect them to reach the public, didn't say. I would be pretty darn sure they'd do plenty of testing before releasing them. Don't want a mass lawsuit if they were proven to fail out on the open market. Laughing

My guess is these are a testing prototype, the finished product will have to have some type of sidewall to keep out debris and road hazards from entering the spoke area, plus I'm betting the general motoring public is not ready for a see-through tire. I like the technology, I can see where the composite spokes vs. rubber sidewalls and air will make for a higher performance, better balanced tire therefore safer too. I think these will show up on top end luxury sport rides from Benz, Audi and the likes first, maybe 5 years from now, just guessing there though.
