I think I've seen T.V. tuners that hook up to a monitor. I figure I can watch movies/dvds on my pc, which is right next to my bed. The problem is, I'd also like to have a t.v. Can someone help me out here, like a few links, or what I might need to do it? I think I can use my pc speakers, and I just need a remote with the tuner. I'm just using a CRT 21 inch monitor (which I have two of).

I'm looking to move my bigger t.v. out in to the living room for when my familiy is here we can enjoy a big set and watch movies and such.

Back in the OLD days, my dad just hooked up our VCR to an EGA monitor which used regular AV cables.

Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thanks, my on-line buddies! ^^

You need to install a PCI card similar to this in your PC.

Its not too hard to do and they work pretty well with XP.

I use a Hauppauge WINTV-PVR-250 PCI Interface Tuner Card in my system to watch or record TV or from the VCR
but they are kind of expensive mine card was well over $200.00. If you are just wanting to watch TV then what tk
suggested would work just fine for you but I heard good and bad things about the Leadtek cards some people have
good luck while other people have nothing but trouble out of them. If you have the extra money then I'd suggest
buying one of the Hauppauge TV cards maybe something like the WinTV-PVR-150 card here is a link to the Hauppauge
site so you can read up on them. http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/prods_pvr.html

Here is another link to the more or less plain TV cards WinTV-PCI boards http://www.hauppauge.com/pages/prods_pci.html

Cool. Cool! Cool

Thanks for the infor guys.

I'll look into them.

But I'm curious, what if you had no PC at all and just wanted to turn your nice monitor (like CRT) in t.v. with NO PC at all. I believe I've seen them somewhere. I'm not kind of looking at my options here.

I just want to be able to hook up basic cable and watch t.v., don't need to record, really...although that would be nice feature if I could burn it to DVD.

Thanks again!!
