I have AVG virus protection...and it sometimes finds viruses /trojans.and commits them to virus vault.....but when I check the files with trojan hunter, it does not identify them as trojans or threats, I have heard that AVG does this as it reads the signature of a file and identifies it as a trojan if it has a similar signature as a virus...is this correct??

Hi GB,
AVG does have "false alarms: once in a while.
I've been using NOD32 for over 5 years now and haven't had any infection of any sort with neither of my 2 computers, no false alarms either.
Here's a link for their 30 days trial version.
http://www.eset.com/download/index.php

p.s. As you know you'll have to either uninstall or totally disable AVG or any other antivirus programs you may have installed in your computer/s, or there will be a conflict between the two antivirus programs.

Hope this helps. Smile

I haven't used AVG, but my brother did, and yeah he was having the same thing you talked about. I use Prevx. So far I haven't had any alarms from it and I like the ay it works. Been using it for about a year now. Below is their site as well if you want to take a look

I use Norton Antivirus Protection Centre and blieve me it's the best there is. I've never had any false alarms and it deletes every attampted virus threat and warns me that it has done so. It also checks all my emails both incoming and outgoing for any viruses...
