Apparently hot, nubile chicks and big muscle cars aren't enough after all. This turkey never got off the ground, and it's easy to see why it dodn't take off in the theatres. Even the big car chase they were bruting about as being so wonderful was a complete yawner. very disappointing.

Bummer.

I've had this at home for about a month, but haven't gotten around to watching it yet. Might postpone it a bit further.

I liked it. Almost everyone I know preferred Planet Terror but I enjoyed Death Proof more. I did however, have one major problem with it - the ending.

*SPOILERS*

In the first part of the film, Stuntman Mike is a bada** that you want to root for...even though what he does is completely wrong. Then the second half, he's a whiny little b*tch begging for mercy from those annoying women. I was just waiting and waiting for those chicks to finally catch him and see him ram them like in the first half but instead they beat his * while he cries. Mad

The problem with Death Proof is that it's too much of a Grindhouse trivia movie that Planet Terror was. Planet Terror was a fun nostalgic zombie trash action movie. Death Proof is so much more. It has scratches, missing seconds and kinda feels more like a dirty gritty sexy cheap movie than Planet is.
I think that the greatest problem with Tarantino is that he's putting too much trivia into his movies. So if you're not into japanese/kung-fu action madness, Hong Kong action flics or 70's cheap revenge movies, you may kinda feel a bit dissapointed.
