Pretty good family outing here. This lightly crafted fairy tale has some big names in it (Michelle Pfeiffer as the bad witch, Robert De Niro as the gay lightning pirate) and is both airy and entertaining, with some good humorous moments. It was shooting for the same kind of flavour and mix of comedy and adventure as the Princess Bride, and while it's not quite up to that level it's still quite watchable. |

I thought it was entertaining, but they should have played Robert De Niro straight, because he just wasn't convincing playing the part the way he did and I think it was a waist of his talent. Since it was a kids film, I doubt if they understood the jest of the humor intended. _________________ DVDCoverArt

I agree with you about De Niro. He wasn't carrying across the gay bit very well, and this was one of the films' biggest flaws. |

Very good movie. My 7 year old daughter loved it as well. Its rare when we can sit down and watch a movie together that we both really enjoy. I agree about the DeNiro comments as well. That was the only thing bad about the film. |

One of the greatest fantasy/adventure movies EVER! Reminds me of The Princess Bride which is my favorite since I was a kid... |
