well, you know the critics weren't wild about this movie, and I think that everyone went into it with the expectation that this would be an uproarious comedy. It isn't. In fact, it was depressing at points, and it was a little slow to get started.
What does happen is that the actors surpass the cliches of the story, and Freeman and Nicholson are great together. They have real chemistry and a tangible connection that for me made this movie work. Of course, there were elements of the movie that had to happen, predictably so, but that doesn't stop it from being genuinely touching in parts, and I expect that it's food for thought for almost anyone who watches it, whether they end up liking it as a whole or not.
I liked the movie, and while the message is clearly aimed at our aging population I don't think the message is lost on anyone who watches it. I was touched by the ending, even while we all knew roughly what had to come, and I think it's a worthwhile watch. I sincerely hope that the two of them have the chance to work together again in something lighter, because I think with a better script written more comically that the two of them would be absolutely fantastic together. |

I enjoyed watching this, never really pay attention to critics, I usually find I enjoy the opposite of what they say, go get the movie, most of you will enjoy it. Freeman and Nicholson do a good job together. _________________ Ken |
