Murphy is as Murphy has become. A pale shadow of what he once was. He has painted himself into the celluloid corner of "cute" movies, and he just can't seem to get out of it. After finally doing something truly good in Dreamgirls he's gone back to being what he has been in his last 10 outings or so. Cute family fodder.
Not a bad movie, not a great movie. Hugely contrived and predictable movie that we've all seen 100 times before, but fairly representative of the genre. At least it wasn't Norbit, but basically just a timekiller. |

Too bad. I know he wanted to make movies his kids could watch to .. but .. well, he does have talent if he would just exercise it.
