It's supposed to be an easy, simple, likeable flim based back in the 20's at the origins of football. They seem to be trying hard at it, playing period tunes, getting the right cinematic feel, etc.

It is kind of simple and sometimes enjoyable, but it strains around the edges a bit too. I didn't find it believable to have Zellweger in the reporter role, I thought there were too many "modern" outlooks to a period piece, I didn't think that Clooney had good chemistry with Zellweger, nor did I think they got to develop the romance very well. The movie had a bunch of things going on and didn't really take care of any of them well.

On the good side, Clooney did have a good chemistry with his male counterpart, the movie did come across lightly, and there were some genuinely funny moments, especially right at the beginning, and right at the end.

Bottom line, mildly entertaining flick worth the cost of a rental but not a theatre ticket.
