I get the feeling that this movie probably falls under the "love it or hate it" category. It's got a great cast of people acting goofy for all they're worth. The movie is kind of a satire about idiocy in general, government, espionage and marital infidelity.
The biggest problem the movie has is that it juggles a whole bunch of stuff around, so you have to be willing and receptive to each of the various satirical jokes individually. The upside is that the cast was obviously having a great time making this movie, and it showed. Well-acted goofiness is the best way I can think of to put it. It can be a bit over the top at times, but I didn't think it was excessive. Surprisingly, the best laughs came from J.K.Simmons (the guy who played JJ Jameson in Spiderman) He had the best lines and delivery, and made me laugh out loud.
I liked this movie, but I can easily see how some people wouldn't, and you probably really need to be in the mood for it when you do see it. I thought it was a good watch though. |
