This is a western with Japanese characters and is basically Fistful of Dollars with a martial arts film flavour (although not really much in the way pf martial arts) and some over the top 70's style asian characters, with, of course, Quentin Tarantino trying to pass himself off as a gunfighter. If this sounds like a mish mash of stuff that's because basically that's what it was. It was watchable, but that's it, and just barely.

I think that the greatest problem was that it was an homage to spagetti westerns and kung-fu movies of the 70's. SWD is a "trivia" film. Spot your favorite character from previous movies, scene or whatnot. If you haven't seen any of the spagetti/kung-fu revenge flicks of the 70's don't bother watching SWD. You'll just feel bored and confused. But if you're into the 70's, just go for it.
