I bought the wife the Nook for Christmas, it is really cool. She is going to love it. _________________ No matter how many times you try...you can't clone the dirt off your screen. |

How does this stack up against the Kindle? I read too many negative things about the Kindle to get one, and also it seems you unable to download titles outside the US, Is this true of the Nook too? |

The Nook is more open than Kindle. Supports more ebook formats including all of the Google ebook library plus all other ereader formats. Supports anything in PDF format. Also will do audiobooks in mp3. About 80% of books are lendable and they expect that percentage to go up. Most major newspapers should be available within the next few months, subscription auto downloads the newspaper as soon as you turn it on every morning.
The thing is so easy to use, the e-ink screen is very clear and easy on the eyes to read. The LCD screen below has 5 icons on it and is how you access everything you want to do with it.
My wife is recovering from hand surgery (arthritis) so not having to hold a physical book open and turn pages will be a real blessing for her.
I'm not sure if it is available outside the U.S. now but I would think it will be soon if it isn't. Uses AT&T wireless and also has wifi built in. _________________ No matter how many times you try...you can't clone the dirt off your screen. |
