or as it's otherwise known "The Return of Mel Gibson to the Big Screen"

A lot of people will probably shoot this down just because of how Gibson has * them off offscreen, but it is what it is. Gibson returns back to basics, starring in an action/thriller that builds in layers. He does a pretty good job as the vengeful father tracking down the killers of his daughter. There's a couple of other interesting characters too, and the action, along with the gradually adding layers to the story, turn this into a pretty good flick. Gibson is starting to look a bit long in the tooth, but he captured the dark moods he should have had pretty well. A stretch of the believability here and there, but overall a fun movie to watch. I'd say B+

I would agree with your assessment. Appropriately titled, if the Edge of Darkness were any darker it would not be watchable.
Can you name the characters left standing at the end of the film? There weren't many thats for sure.
