is it me or do new shows these days just don't get a chance to show their mettle? if the weekly viewership is not at least 8 million, blam! the plug is pulled on the bad shows AND the good ones as well.

it's no wonder shows fail, no one wants to invest time if the uninformed execs just cut the rug out from under them.

The major networks are becoming infamous for "1 season or less and out". The cable networks have a give a little more latitude.
I just watched the first two episodes of a new series on USA network called "Common Law" and so far seems to be a light-hearted well written cop show but it may not make it because it is produced in L.A. and their production costs must be much higher than if it were produced in say Dallas.
The decisions of network execs always baffle me.
Its a shame that I have to pay for almost 500 channels on DirecTv but only watch about 30 of them.
I despise reality TV and just will not watch it.

i agree, this "one and done" irks me to no end. if the TV execs of today were in place 20 years ago, we'd have no classics on tv today. LOL. i was enjoying "missing" alot, but it got the axe! anddddddddddd to we were given a hell of a cliffhanger to boot! grrrrrrrrrr.... =)
