arrietty is a member of a family of "borrowers", little people (4 inches tall) that lives in the catacombs of the house. they've lived their quiet lives, borrowing small, inocuous items that the owners of the home would never notice missing. a little boy who needs a heart operation comes to the house to rest and he sees arrietty and they become friends.
although the boy means no harm, arrietty and her family are forced to move because they were seen by humans.
this was another animation masterpiece by the japan disney group and studio ghibli. if you like any of the others (spirited away, castle in the sky), you will like this one. GRADE: A-.
