I think steelers will win it.. a part of me don't want to though. They will join the cowboys and 49ers as the only teams with 5 rings.
Go 9ers! |

I watched the game, and while I am aSteelrs fan and was pulling for them, there is no way that first TD that Ben got was real.... Not sure what replays they watched but......
Also I think that call on the Sea Hawks was questionable for their first TD. But lke it or not the Steelers won.
I thought only NA$CAR could screw something up this badly _________________ For every person with a spark of genius, there are a hundred with ignition trouble. |

I'm with you 50%....although the pushoff rule exists, it's rarely called, unless blantant. and the darrell jackson "push off" wasn't at all.
But the rushing TD by ben, was a good call. the ball definately broke the plane. remember, it only needs to pass the FRONT of the goaline.
what can you say...when humans are involved, there's always a chance of error. |

Unless the ball broke the line when he was in the air it didn't. When he is on the ground you can clearly see he pulls the ball forward from behind the line. I wasn't sure enough about that, and when the offical came forward he hadn't signaled the TD it looked like until Ben moved the ball forward. Of course it could just be that it looked that way on TV.
So if that was a good call.... and even if they had reversed the call on Seattle it would have been a moot point as there was still a 4 point diff.
Of course we will never know what momentum would have done:) _________________ For every person with a spark of genius, there are a hundred with ignition trouble. |

Yup, I thought that push off call was pretty weak.
The TD by Ben Roth-a something (I'm too lazy to look up the spelling) was called A TD. They reviewed it, but there wasn't conclusive evidence to over turn it. That's the way it works, I guess. That was a hard one, but I think while he was in the air the corner of the ball was pass the goaline (the white marker).
The holding play. This is like a big grey area, you'll see a block like that called holding, and other times you won't. He called it, deal with it.
Also, there is the debate if the Seahawks reciever made the TD catch.
The official wording is
"A player who touches a pylon remains in-bounds until any part of his body touches the ground out-of-bounds"
The words "remains in-bounds" insinuates that the ball carrier has already established possession of the ball in bounds. A good example is when michael vick had that one TD where he dove out of bounds, but while airborne before any of his body touched the ground he reached out and touched the pylon with the football. TD. However, he had possession of the football in-bounds to begin with. The rule does not apply to here and in this case the ref made the right call.
And the blocking below the knees call on Hasslebeck ... I don't know what the heck that was about!
I wish I could find a video compilation of all calls.
You see all over the place at the ESPN boards that this was a tainted win. But why should Steeler fans or players feel the least bit bad, they shouldn't. They had no say in how the refs called the game.
Although, not one of the most entertaining SB games ever, congrats to the Steelers! I was very happy for Bill Cowher! That shot of him raisining his arms in victory will go down in NFL & SB history. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/animationjesus |

no to mention i think i won $320!!!
it was very close in my fantasy football playoff pool. i had an 18 point lead. needless to say, the guy that's running it is in detroit for the game...i deleted the email with the rules....so i have to wait for his return to find out if i finished 1st or 2nd ($100). either way, WOOHOO!
btw, i missed the hasselbeck illegal block play...if it was in the 2nd half, there's not much i remember....other than playing tackle football outside, in the snow, with no coat on, with beer in hand, while all the wives yell at all of us drunks for acting so childish!! man...women just don't get it do they?
and guess what....no "flu" today either! just a little heartburn from all the wings/sausage/chili i ate for 5 hours yesterday! |

Yeah, I was a little too drunk to remember all the details of the game. I don't think they even showed the Hasslebeck play.
And my bowels are still recovering from all the fried food I ate. No SB party, just me ... alone, making phone calls to friends across the country.
I'm also hurting today just because I've been sitting at the computer too long these days. I need a better chair and desk. Darn DSL line, I'm a downloadin' fool!
And no respect to Montana. It's reported he wanted $100,000 to show up for the MVP deal before the game. ... come on. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/animationjesus |

Pretty dull game i thought, compared to some previous SB's.I thought Seattle threw the game with stupid mistakes, penalties, and bad plays.
i thought the PI call in the end zone was a bad call.looked to me like all the receiver did was out stretch his arm, seemed like the barely touched the other guy.
Shame about THE BUS retiring, tho' hardly surprising after 13 years taking that kinda punishment!!

Yeah bit what a way for the BUS to retire... as as Super Bowl champ!!! Not too shabby at all. Good for him.
Overall not one of the best games, but the last 4 minutes was great. Even with the blizzard going on outside. _________________ For every person with a spark of genius, there are a hundred with ignition trouble. |
