CIS for cheapness too.......paid £54 for mine, and have printed around 70-80 dvd's/covers so far, and all my other printing, and the ink reservoirs are nowhere near half empty yet.It came with 600ml of ink,so i reckon it was a bargain!

yep...cis all the way.....got mine pre filled and 250ml of each ink.....word of caution though, you will need to port the waste ink tube out of the printer into a recepticle of some kind, eventually your printer will stop working saying that the waste ink pads are at the end of thier serviceable life....you can get round it though and reset the counter that countrols this cheap trick by epson to spend money on your printer.....epson printers are designed to waste ink...you will faint if you saw how much ink is spewed out when it performs head clean...the printer even does them for no reason, just wasting ink.....i suck the ink back out of the waste bottle and tip it back into the black chamber...its blacker than the original ink !!!....YOU WILL NEED TO DO THIS...if you reset the counter and dont either change the pads or port the waste tube out you will have a very nasty mess on your desk. |

Another vote for CIS here. I'm using a Sinopis CIS with an Epson R310. It was cheap and is hassle free....have printed hundreds of covers and haven't refilled yet. Check out their websit....you'll never guess the url. I've been meaning to do that waste bottle but haven't got around to it yet. Think I better pull my finger out! |

Found this info, maybe helpful to someone considering CIS.
This system is sold in the U.S. and is expensive.
http://www.inkrepublic.com/ProductDetail.asp?item=R200
Found this review of that system.
Look at the whole review, especially the updates at the bottom.
http://www.brandonstaggs.com/epson-r200-continous-ink-system-review.html
At this point for me, I think I would rather just buy 1 or 2 more R220's and continue to watch for good sales on compatible carts and buy when the pricces are right. _________________ No matter how many times you try...you can't clone the dirt off your screen. |

from the review it looks to me that after having used the CIS (which he was happy with) and then going to 3rd party carts he just stuck with the carts as still being a cheaper, no fuss arrangement. Since he was using a top end CIS system then perhaps it is actually more convenient to go with generic carts.
of course, that's just one review, although a pretty thorough one. Anybody else have any comments to add? |
