|
Just wanted to let those who don't already know a few things about the Landrover Freelander (petrol Version Only). I bought a secondhand one and until recently thought it was the Bees Knees... However, last saturady the Head Gasket blew and I had to have it towed to my local garage to have repaired. The cost of the repair is £500:00 and I was told that this is a common fault on all Freelander Petrol models. Apparently they used a Rover 1997 Engine which is prone to having the Head Gasket blow. I was also told that having the Head Gasket replaced doesn't guarantee that the new one won't blow in less that 12 months. I have since discovered that numerous people have had the Head Gasket blow twice within 6 months. So as soon as my local garage have replaced the Head Gasket I shall be trading it in at a local Car dealers. I have already put down a deposit on an Honda CR-V ES 2000i Executive and they have agreed to take my Freelander off me at a price which means I will lose about £2000:00. But at the end of the day I do not want a vehicle that may keep costing me £500:00 every 6-12 months. So anyone who is thinking of purchasing a Landrover Freelander, be warned.... LEAVE WELL ALONE... Unless you buy a Diesel Engine one, which doesn't have the same problem... The only thing that stops me from crying, is the fact that I shall soon be collecting my Honda 4X4... _________________

laptops...mice.....landrover's.... what's next a suite in TRUMP PLAZA?
shame about the landrover! i hate spending money on car repairs....hence i LOVE leases! in my mind, i'll always have a car payment. so i get a 2 yr lease. that way, every two years i get a new car. and the only repairs i need to worry about are the normal wear and tear the vehicle gets. |

I think Leasing a vehicle over inthe UK is a lot dearer than in the USA. I did look into that side first... _________________

Bummer Boney, I never much cared for the Freelander, I like the other models from LandRover but I can't afford any of them so I guess it doesn't matter. So far I am happy with my new little Subaru. You will be happy with the Honda, its a nice vehicle and a reliable one. _________________ No matter how many times you try...you can't clone the dirt off your screen. |

Very nice looking Honda boney, hehehe looks kind of funny with the right side drive
with me being from the USA and all and using the left side drive vehicles very seldom
do you see a right side drive vehicle around here. _________________ Site Moderator

Yeah! It's funny how different countries drive on different sides of the road... _________________

Thanks TK... It's approximately four years old but it's only done 48000 miles and been serviced regular. So I'm hoping that I won't have much trouble with this one, like I had with the Freelander... _________________

Thanks for your comments Bobby... Hope it isn't long before you have enough money to replace it... _________________
