Today we went snowshoeing for a couple hours in the forest near our home.
Here are a few pictures from the day.
Colleen
Me
Found a old "snowmobile"
Another "snowmobile" this one runs but no keys. This is a quarry for a local concrete company.
The light pinkish colors just below the horizon is the "Painted Desert", it is a area of exposed sedimentary rock that is beautiful, much of it is located in the Navajo Nation which is the largest Native American reservation in the U.S. _________________ No matter how many times you try...you can't clone the dirt off your screen. |

Wow - looks like a nice day to snowshoe! Where are you at, Arizona or New Mexico or someplace like that? |

Flagstaff, Arizona. It was a nice day, cold but not windy. I think the high was about 27 degrees. _________________ No matter how many times you try...you can't clone the dirt off your screen. |

i agree, but when i recently moved i had the chance to move somwhere quieter - but could not give up the convieiences of town life - public transport - local shops - local schools etc. - still nice to get out in the country whenever you can _________________ A day without wine is like a day without sunshine -hic! |

great pics TK!
looks like a fun time! is the snow so deep that you need the snowshoes? is that the deal? pardon my ignorance....but i'm a born and bread city guy and have never been in the woods during winter time. i like camping, but i don't like it enough to be out there in the winter!
and this year, i think we've had MAYBE 2" of snow all season. we are easily crushing the record low for snow in pittsburgh! i'm afraid it's all gonna come in APRIL!!! you know how hard it is to do an easter egg hunt in the snow? |

I'm guessing there was about 10" of snow where we were at, some spots a little more due to drifting. The snowshoes will spread out the weight and only let you sink in only a couple inches making the hiking much easier. If you did the same thing with just winter boots on you would be stomping through 10" of snow and at least this old guy would wear out fast.
One thing thats nice about being in the woods in the winter is it is so quite, about the most noise you'll hear may be snow falling from the trees. Its really peaceful.
We are behind in snowfall here too this year but we are expecting some more this weekend and the local ski resort is planning on opening finally so maybe winter is here after all...sure has been cold enough. _________________ No matter how many times you try...you can't clone the dirt off your screen. |

So this where your old GTO ended up? j/k
It would interesting how this car got there in the middle of, looks like, no where. I guess it was just easier to leave it there than toe it. _________________ http://www.myspace.com/animationjesus |
