It starts off with an action scene, as usual, and that's pretty much the mainstay of the movie. The plot line is marginal (expected better from Haggis), you can't really get invested with the villain at all (poorest of the franchise), the obligatory girl was pretty much superfluous, and most of all Daniel Craig was pretty much a wooden robot throughout the whole thing. Judi Dench has never been so present though, and is scattered throughout the movie. There was cute line or two, but Bond was never the suave and cool super agent that he normally is, and much of the flavor for which the Bond series is famous was largely absent here. 2 hours of fierce scowling or blank faces just doesn't do it.

The film seemed geared to flow from action sequence to action sequence, but the problem was that the action sequences were poorly directed and edited, and had rock video type sequences at times, making it visually jarring and not audience friendly at times.

Maybe Craig was poorly directed, and some acting talent was lost, as Craig is a decent actor in other flicks. I never thought of him as a great Bond, but the smooth finesse and writing of the previous movie helped overcome this. Too bad Brosnan never got a shot at a class "A" script. In this movie, without the rest of the trappings that made Casino Royale good, Craig falls far short of what I look for in a Bond, and turns this into nothing more than a mediocre action flick. Very disappointed, and can't recommend it as more than a rental.

Just watched this, and I rather liked it. The Craig version of the Bond flicks have both been different from previous offerings. This one continued on from the first with part of the story line deriving from that, which I think caused some of the perceived fracturing. There were indeed a couple of pretty "hard rock type" action scenes that would have been better left out.

But still over all I would give this a B-. Not one I would have gone to the theatre to see, but one that I would definetly rent

I watched this one again over the weekend, and I think I've changed my mind. I have to agree with you. It kind of grows on you. I'm going to up my grade to an A-
