I kept wanting to like this movie but I just couldn't. I could see that they were trying to get across a variety of underlying messages, but just couldn't seem to decide which ones to communicate to us. These "funny people" were unlikeable and not very funny. The repetitive sophomoric sex jokes got irritating, and although Sandler's character even comments on it in the movie they just keep coming and coming anyway. Had the movie been shorter it might have been bearable, but at 2.5 hours long it was a long, dragging haul to get through it, and at the end I still had no real idea of what they were trying to say, or why they even bothered to put in some of the plot elements, which went nowhere, including one of the central ones, and while I didn't hate it I just can't say that I enjoyed it very much. Punch Line was a much better movie about disenfranchised comedians.
If you haven't seen it already then give it a miss. |

The wife picked it up from Redbox, and you're right, its not really funny and the best word I can think of to describe it is dysfunctional. _________________ No matter how many times you try...you can't clone the dirt off your screen. |

Yep have to agree it is not a very funny movie though it did have
a moment or two that was somewhat funny.
I'd say a rating C- _________________ Site Moderator
