this is an epic film directed by john woo (killer, crouching tiger hidden dragon) which tells of the history of how two lords of the south have to band together to fight a warlord intent on taking over all of asia. they are outnumbered 8 to 1 and win the battle for the red cliff with cunning and some divine intervention.
a great john woo film with pagentry similar to that of crouching tiger. this one has both action film and epic qualities as seen by the sets, attention to detail and great acting. this is the VERY long international version at over 4 hours; the US release is 2.5 hours and i can tell you the international version is a much better watch. grade: B+
