whew, it's been a while since i saw a new movie and i'm probably one of the last people on the planet to see this.
a girl volunteers to take her sister's place as a tribute (player) in the annual hunger games. a boy and girl from 12 districts are chosen to play a game to the death where there will only be one winner. she really doesn't play the game to it's fullest and tries to survive the game along with the boy from her district. she also shows compassion to other competitors in the game....something unheard of. she overcomes the brutality of the games to put the machine of the society of the times in it's place.
not a bad movie; it was better than i thought it would be. the hype was worth it. GRADE: B+

Well.... It's mid September, and I haven't seen it yet. I read the series (three books) last year and just picked up a copy of the book for my wife to read before we watch the movie together. If the movie lives up to the book - it should be good.
